HERROS
Herros is often called the first province, as it’s the place where King Viktor I Kroon landed. It lies to the right of Hollandos, vertically spanning from Viktorhaven to the Shores of the Outsider, previously known as the Crown Shores.
The people here are born sword fighters, with both men and women expected to fight. Their harsh way of life often mirrors the weather in Herros, with storms and rain dominating most days.

Discovering Hollandos
The news that the king had fallen reached the capitol. The master of the port, known as the Herringshark Captain, decided to take matters into his own hands. He guided the people of his war-torn country into the open ocean, in search for a new land.
The fleet sailed for months and some ships even sank. In a massive storm that tore ships apart, the Herringshark Captain looked up. In the sky, seven stars shone, and when he looked back down, the captain finally spotted an unknown land. He brought his people to safety and called it Hollandos.
The captain journeyed southward and together with his people, he created the city of Herringtide and named the first province of his new land, Herros. His people ventured even further, forming villages along the western shores of the province.
As Herros was getting crowded, some people moved to the new city of Amstos. While others made even more villages. People began to make ships and venture further to the north. They found a archipelago of islands and named it the Wadden Archipelago. Here is where they formed fortresses and forts.
Under the rule of Amstos
As Amstos was named the capital of Hollandos, the people of Herros had to pay the realm with taxes. Some sailed refused and left the province, to get away from the crown. These people decided to group up and form a new city that would be on water, to avoid being claimed. This city would be called Batava, which is unofficially part of Herros now.
Herringtide was rapidly expanding and choose their own leader, the Herringshark Captain of Herros. He or she would lead their province and make sure that the standards of the province were upheld in the capital.
The Outsider Uprising
Queen Kenau I Kroon opened a portal that led to where the first king sailed from. This portal was located inside of Herros, at the south side. People from the other world poured in and quickly tried to take over, resulting in the Outsider Uprising.
The provinces of Gravos, Amstos and Herros were overwhelmed and decided they had to work together. Herringshark Captain Jackie Seagull met with Chief Blacksmith Platinum Stone and King Viktor II Kroon. Together with their three armies combined and with Prince Philip, they drove back the outsiders. As the uprise reached a boiling point, the king was slain by his own son in the Battle of the Crown Shores.
King Philip III Kroon and worked together with the leader of the outsiders, Bernhard Zorrega. Jackie Seagull and Platinum Stone were also failing on all fronts. Philip and Bernhard claimed Herringtide and Gravos. They rounded up their leaders. Next to King Viktor I Kroon’s statue, in Amstos, Bernhard betrayed King Philip and killed him, before also executing Jackie Seagull and Platinum Stone. Emma Zorrega killed Bernhard and claimed the crown. She send all the outsiders back home, she closed the portal and she rebuild the cities, including Herringtide.
Battle of the Rainbow Lagoon
In the year 155 AS, Herros was still healing from the devastating Outsider Uprising. This is when the fleet of Captain William Decken attacked Viktorhaven. They quickly took over and set their sails towards Herringtide. The pirates of Batava wanted full control over the Herros province. The Herringshark Captain, Nikolas Octoka, call the aid of Amstos, Zeelos and Gravos. These provinces failed to respond, as they too were still healing from the uprising. Nikolas Octoka and the Herrosan people fought bravely, they defeated William Decken in the Battle of the Rainbow Lagoon.
From this moment forward, Herros's trust in the crown was diminished and the tradition of training with swords became custom. Due to this battle, children in Herros are often taught how to swordfight very early on in their lives, so that pirates could never hurt them again.
The Zevendam
As the years passed, the Gulf of Herros was getting flooded more often. The Herringshark Captain asked the crown to help build a dam, but King Frederick I Kroon refused, as it was deemed too expensive. The trust between the two provinces broke even more because of this decision.
This all changed when Queen Emma II Kroon claimed the Starcrown in the year 240 AS. She visited Herros and witnessed the floods firsthand. Her first order as queen was to build the biggest dam Hollandos had ever seen. One of the finest engineers from Gravos, Johan Delta, designed a dam that could withstand enough water. The people of Gravos, Herros and Amstos worked together and build the dam within ten years’ time. They named it the Zevendam and renamed the Gulf of Herros to the Deltagulf, in honour of Johan Delta. The trust between the two provinces was restored under Emma's leadership.
