History of VULKOS
The very beginning
King Philip II Kroon’s main objective was to expand the kingdom of Hollandos. He did this by claiming untamed land far and wide. One of his missions was a large strip of rigid volcanic land, which ended in a massive volcano. He ordered his troops to venture there and claim this land. But soon, one of his generals returned and brought him some worrying news. The southern half of this land was already occupied. This was the first time since King Viktor landed, that they discovered other humans.
King Philip joined his troops and together they marched to the city of Volkan, a large city north of the volcano. He was greeted with open arms by the Volkaanian people as he and his people entered the city. He negotiated with their leader, asking him to join the kingdom of Hollandos, in hopes to claim the city. Their leader refused, because they believed they can only belong to the volcano, and its god, Volkan. King Philip tried to bring gifts and offer good terms, but everything got rejected. He knew he could not win a battle, so he made a plan with his right-hand man, Hank Stuppos. To form a central bank and finance a great army, the biggest one that Hollandos had ever seen.
The Volkaanian conflict
Five years passed and King Philip I Kroon had died of old age in the year 111 AS. His son, King Philip II Kroon, returned to Volkan with an army of then thousand people. The Volkaanian conflict unleashed. Hundreds of people died and the local Volkaanian were driven to the volcano. King Philip capture some of them, and made them perform in a great circus. To show the people what happens when you defy a king. He renamed Volkan, to Circosia. And made it the capitol of their new province, Vulkos. He assigned the Ringmaster of the circus as the leader of the province.
The Volkaanian people were still sheltering inside the volcano and plotted against the king. They killed King Philip II Kroon, but were too scared to start another conflict to win their city back. They met with Queen Julia I Kroon and made peace, ending the conflict. The queen gave them freedom in their new city, Volkaania, atop the volcano and stopped the torturing in the circus. The city of Circosia would lead the new province, Vulkos, now belonging to the kingdom of Hollandos.
Talpa Gunner
The first one hundred years of Vulkos were quite uneventful, with only a few skirmished between the people of Vulkos and the Volkaanian people. Under the rule of King Frederick I Kroon, the cities of Vulkos were expanding and villages spawned along the Volcanopass. The city of Volkaania was rapidly growing, and so was its entertaining industry. With people from all over Hollandos coming here to perform in acts or learn the craft of different entertaining skills. But these were seen as hobbies, not as professions.
That all changed when Talpa Gunner rose to power and was appointed the Ringmaster. He created a company called Gunner inc. In the year 230 AS, which capitalized on all the shows that were given in Volkaania. He renamed the city to Circosia and created productions like the Circosia Circus and others. His ingenious financial skills quickly catapulted Vulkos to a wealthy province. Taking the shame out of performing and paving the way for a new wave of entertainment. History often speaks great of Talpa Gunner, but the reality shows that he actively exploited his students, staff and performers.
A new order
After Talpa Gunner died in 265 AS, Vulkos spiralled into madness. People were protesting the exploits, the Drumosan war was in full swing and the Volkaanian people were pressing from the south. A young woman named Amber Kindle was severely exploited as a performer, but gained popularity as she led the movement to change the rules for entertainers.
In the year 266 AS, she walked barefoot from Circosia to Volkaania, where she was appointed the new Ringmaster. In order to bring balance to her province, she changed the title Ringmaster to Volkaron. She did this to combat the Ringmaster having too much power in the entertainment industry, and to bring the Volkaanian people and the people of Vulkos closer together. From her reign onwards, they lived as one land.
The rise of Volkarism
In the years to come, both groups became very close, with a lot of Vulkos people taking over the religion that the Volkaanian people had followed in their lifetimes. Volkarism became the main religion in the province, behind the religion of The Starfall. With both power combined, their leader called upon a great hole to be dug in the north of Vulkos. This was said to be a gateway to their god. So in the year 301 AS, digging started to the left of Magmapass. This project lasted a generation and only completed in the year 340 AS. It was named the Tartos Tunnel, after the home place of their god Volkan. People from this province gather here to this very day to pray and make sacrifices.
